There are two datasets that I would like to analyze regarding how I prepared for my most recent MCAT exam on August 13th, 2022. First, a month’s worth of CARS practice. Secondly, how I spent my time in the last week of studying. There’s a chance of one or more subsequent posts about these data, since I haven’t really come to terms yet with how I should/can analyze these data. Read more

This weekend, I wanted to start better understanding some of the computational tools I use most often, such as optimization algorithms or sampling techniques. Some of these are relatively simple, like maximum likelihood estimation, whereas some involve a lot of theory. I decided to start with CMAES, because it’s a well-known and very effective algorithm that I’ve used, and that I’ve seen other people use, many times. I’m considering doing more of these in the future, so stay tuned! As always, these notes are written for my personal use, and can be extremely verbose, since I like to verbalize how I think about things and explain preliminary concepts as I go. Read more
